Traditional Silver Chinchilla Persian Cat

Adoption Agreement

As stated a few times throughout, Traditional Persians were bred for royalty. That being said, their fight or flight response is extremely lacking. The Dearhearts have been indoor only for decades; 30+ years. All our breeding cats have not stepped foot outside since birth as well. They should not, under any circumstances, be declawed or be kept as an outdoor cat or even indoor/outdoor cat. They have been born and raised inside and all our cats are perfectly content living indoors.

Kittens must remain as indoor only cats.

This will be put in the adoption agreement. It is a must for their well being and safety. Along with natural predators, moving cars can easily run them over and their well natured personality will make them easy targets to get swooped up by a passer by and never seen or heard of again.

Along with that, all the diseases outside can be risky since the Dearheart line has not been exposed to any new ones in the last 30+ years.

Appropriate catios of course, are great, or if your kitten is fine with a leash and harness, this is a great way to introduce them to the great outdoors! But be aware that fleas are known to get on animals via grass. Make sure appropriate flea meds have been administered before considering either of these options.

Why are your kittens priced the way they are?

This is a question we've been asked more than once.

We have decided to address it here.

Many may find kittens for sale through local classifieds and usually, these kittens are being sold cheaper.

What needs to be put in consideration are SO many factors.

One drop in that bucket is that these people don't have a website they pay for or any reputable online presence for their breeding practice. These are normally people that happened to also buy two cheap cats locally online and breed them for profit.

You won't pick up your kitten with vet papers, vaccination records and kits full of supplies. There won't be anyone available to [happily] answer all 10,000 of your questions that you might have and give you helpful tips from years of experience.

You'll be grateful if they're willing to send you off with a ziplock bag of Purina.

Why? Because it's not profitable for them. So it's not worth it.

These people don't usually consider feeding their kittens wet food every day to ensure they are getting enough water in their system. They are also not taking kitten's future organ function into consideration. This is again, a huge expense that would take away from the bottom line.

You won't find anyone guaranteeing a 'cheap' kitten, and heaven forbid, you run into a medical problem; they will tell you 'too bad' because it's not their problem anymore. No profit and too high a risk to guarantee a healthy kitten, especially since they likely don't even know the health background of their own cats.

One thing we look for in breeding cats is naturally clean tear ducts, healthy vet records and no breathing issues. We like to see the parents and make sure they also have naturally clean eyes and appear healthy overall.

They aren't putting in the hours making sure they send off well rounded confident kittens.

Many times, these kittens are left alone to be raised by their mom, until old enough to sell, then you need to hope they were raised properly enough to not be fearful of humans, other pets, your household, loud noises, the front door closing and so on. They are likely going to their forever home with little confidence in themselves or any experience living in a normal family environment surrounded by constant noises, humans and attention.

Getting a kitten from Snowheart is getting a kitten you can trust is coming home healthy and was raised the way you would want it raised.

From beginning to end, we put the highest quality care into our cats, and the most time into helping shape these babies into confident and sweet, furry little plumps that seek out human affection and are bomb proof towards running children, loud noises, door bells, kids shouting and so on.

Our queens are brought into a 'nursery' for their final 2 weeks of pregnancy and they are the only ones allowed in that room until they 'move out.'

This is to guarantee they get comfortable and are completely stress free when it's time to nest and give birth.

This is where the kittens are born and raised until about 4 weeks.

At 4 weeks, they're moved to the living room where they have their own 'nursery corner' that's closed off at bed time. During the day, they experience the hustle and bustle of a home with kids running around, shouting, closing doors a little too hard, bursting in from school, the dog running through, guests and other kids coming over and holding them, and so on.

They're introduced to several different environment factors that they may encounter in your home. This is to ensure they are happy and confident enough with themselves that the bustling noises in your home isn't something that will turn them skittish and fearful. They will already be accustomed to everything and will take it with confident stride.

We have many houseplants in our living room. Most large, some small. Every day, we monitor the kittens play and make sure they learn to stay away from them. We do our best to send them home not being a threat to your jungle babies since we love our plants too, we know other plant parents feel the same!

They get time with our very excitable Frenchie who sometimes simply can't contain herself. She riles herself up and sprints circles around them snorting, flinging snot, and heavily breathing in excitement the whole time. Although she is usually calm and respectful, they do get this wild side of her as well and can start getting accustomed to her strange behavior. Kittens usually put her in the 'annoying non threat' category; some even enjoy playing with her!

You may have read some breeders state on their site that they won't sell Persian kittens to homes with children or other animals in them. The moment we read that when window shopping, it's an immediate pass.

We have been breeding for several years now and one of the biggest things we look for in breeding cats is a friendly and kind personality.

We aren't only breeding for looks. They must be as sweet as they are beautiful. Selling kittens to child free, pet free homes is the equivalent of buying a Golden Retriever puppy that can't be around kids. It's the opposite of what you want in that breed of dog.

We believe the same for our cats. Character is a big deal for us and we do everything we can to raise the sweetest, most affectionate little fur balls you can get your hands on.

Not many will even make a mention of whether their breeding cats are good natured or not. You only get to buy a kitten off looks.

In our home, we believe that quality is absolutely everything and know how important it is to choose quality over anything else. If it's not the best, it's not for us. We believe this to ring true with anyone looking to make any purchase or decision in their life. People want the best. We want the best. That being said, we are only comfortable offering the best.

Our cats get the highest quality care.

They are free fed Orijen Original Cat.

Coming out to $70 a bag, we go through 4-5 bags a month.

We give all our cats wet food daily. Although it's not the same brand every night, we buy a variety of top quality brands like Wellness Complete, Stella & Chewy, Go!, Weruva, and others that would be sold on the same shelf to keep it interesting and maintain variety.

On top of all this, every month, we get 5 bags of Northwest Naturals freeze dried morsels as a topper to ensure the best diet they can get.

Food cost alone can get up to $900 or more a month depending on our litter count. This is all worth it to keep our cats in the best possible health, help recovering queens gain weight back, pregnant queens keep up with demand and nursing queens continue passing on the best nutrition to their kittens.

Our kittens get wellness checks starting at the vet before going home to guarantee a well rounded healthy kitten upon arrival.

Unlike many of the 'cheaper kittens', not only do our kittens get seen by the vet starting, but they also get their vaccines done at the vet instead of us cutting corners and doing it at home.

Vaccines may or may not be viable if purchased and administered yourself. We don't take those kind of chances and believe it should be done professionally.

Our cats see the groomer daily.

Maintaining one Persian's coat is fairly simple; keeping track of 10 is a whole new ball game. Eight of our cats have extremely fine, thick show quality coats that need special attention on a regular basis.

Some have lower maintenance coats than others, but paying the groomer 5-6 times a month adds on to the growing expenses. This is a necessary cost to ensure all cats are pain free, knot free, and to make sure no skin lesions or infections occur from matting.

Long story short...

We're not willing to cut any corners because quality is more important.

If you are looking for a carefully and meticulously bred and raised kitten, you've found the right place!
